All about Me

I am happy to be a member of the Great Falls Middle/High School community! This 2016-17 school year will be my fifteenth year as a library media specialist, eight years in elementary and six years in middle school. I am an Army "brat", worked for the Army and then married the Army, so I am pretty proud of my military background. Living in Hawaii, Germany, Japan, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Colorado, Kansas, and now South Carolina, has given me many wonderful life experiences. My husband is recently retired from the military but still works at Ft. Gordon, Georgia. We have made Ridgeway our home, after awhile a person has to stop moving! I have two grown children, two dogs and four cats, and no, I am NOT the cat lady. I think more that I am the BOOK lady. There was always something in common, no matter where I lived, and that was the public library. Growing up, my mother, sisters and I would make weekly visits to the library, filling our bags with books to read. Reading has always been an important part of my daily life. I always have at least one book I'm reading at any given time, sometimes more than one. I hope to share my love of reading with the students of GFMH, and convince them that kids who read succeed! In the word of Maya Angelou, "When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young."
